The Newsletter for Ambitious People Navigating Through The Mess.
What you won’t get from this site is all the muck that makes this journey worth it. I’m talking about the relationship is over the same day your startup runs out of cash but somehow you’re still on the path to building a multi-million dollar business stuff. These things actually happened - in my real life!
I’m Cheraé Latoy Robinson. I’ve raised capital from VC’s, built a business from an idea in my head with no investor network, and have rebuilt a team from ground zero three times all while raising my now 17 year old, criss-crossing Africa, and attempting to grow and be a better human along the way. This is what Breaking Eggs is about. You can’t make an omelet without doing it.
The Breaking Eggs Newsletter comes out once a week on Saturday mornings. Each edition includes an essay/musing, actual tools that I’ve used to do things like raise capital and build my first company, reading lists, and a few other goodies like downloadable travel guides to my favorite spots when I’m on the road. The format won’t exactly be consistent every time but it’ll always be useful.
I’ve been there, learned some lessons the hard way, and am finally open to share the journey as I figure out my own next steps.
Why take my word for it?
Thanks to the internet, you don’t have to. Conde Nast seems to think I’m one of 44 people changing the way we travel (right next to the founders of AirBnB and Summit Series), BET called me a “Black Star Rising”, and Forbes.com named me 1 of 10 emerging entrepreneurs to watch in Africa. You’ll also find mentions in Travel + Leisure, Vogue, Voice of America, and Essence Magazine.
More curious about my writing style and what I actually think? My Pièce De Résistance is this Medium article I wrote just as I was pivoting my business into a completely new model. I’m really proud of it and am excited to write more and share my musings with you.
Not feeling it? I get it (well not really because I do think it’s worthwhile) but…different strokes for different folks. You can unsubscribe at any point where you’re not getting something that helps you achieve your goals or simply breathe easier knowing it’s not just you - since that’s the point of this endeavor.
Anywho - this is my newsletter, let’s break some eggs together.
